Hi girls. Hope you are all having a good weekend.
My weeks and weekends are rolling into one at the
moment, which I am not liking one bit, but the beginning
of the year in South Africa is a little chaotic, with schools
and universities all starting new academic years and a lot
to get organised. My daughter heads back to university
this week - I will miss her like crazy - but I think we need
to get the year rolling now that we're already in February!

to get the year rolling now that we're already in February!
3 Scrappy Boys have some lovely kits available right now
and I was lucky enough to be sent the Paper Hearts add-on
to work with - this is what I came up with - I managed to
squeeze out 3 layouts and 2 cards then I was left with scraps!
As Valentine's Day is just around the corner I focused on
I used mists and wooden embellishments to create this effect
then doodle-drew roughly around the created shape for an
I got this photo totally by accident. Whenever I take
a photo I actually take at least THREE - very important -
especially for group shots where there is bound to be
someone doing something stupid in practically all of them!
Whilst editing the photos I actually noticed this look my
Whilst editing the photos I actually noticed this look my
daughter was giving my husband and zoomed in on them,
cropping the rest of my kids out of the picture. I kept to
a straight-forward centre-panel design & lightly spritzed
the text print with pale green mist before I started
I always like to include a multi-photo layout too as I
know how popular they are. As the add-on comes
with a large sticker sheet with various alpha options
I decided to be extravagant with a long quote for my
title.
I had a recent delivery of a few new Martha Stewart
Crafts punches & if you are wanting to save on
embellishments this is definitely the way to go.
The MSC designs are very classic too...
The punches aren't cheap but they are far superior to
ANY I have ever come across and I imagine them
lasting a life-time, not to mention that they are space saving
too and are actually hinged on each side of the centre barrel
so they fold up, making storage very compact.

Lastly I created a couple of cards as what I had left over
wasn't enough for 12inch layouts. The first one used up
all the little owls that came in the kit and I thought it was
a cute way of utilizing them. I have a tutorial on how to
make this card on the 3 Scrappy Boys Blog here.
The last card used one of the canvas butterflies, which
I inked using spray-mists (removing the lid and wand
and tapping it directly onto the canvas - bleeding the
colours into each other then accentuating the design
with a white journaling pen).

other kits and products over at 3 Scrappy Boys enter

As always, this is great work!
I especially love the effect on the first LO and also the look of your daugther for her father. It is the same look my 4 year old daugther gives my husband (who she actually call her "Prince Hero"). I hope she'll still look at him like this when she'll have the age of your daughter.
These are all STUNNING Helen! Your layouts are getting better and better - I love your style and your photos! Super FAB!!
