'Pain au Chocolat' Layout - Scrap Around The World - 7 Dots - Prima - Inkido

Hi everyone!  Phew the end of the month has come & gone & I have so much to share now!!  Let's start with latest challenge up at Scrap Around The World HERE.  There is LOTS going on at SATW this month - we are revving things up a notch there so go & take a look.  We have a Facebook Subscriber giveaway going on there at the moment too, with some lovely artsy jewellery on offer as the prize!

Welcome back to Scrap Around The World Challenge FIVE!

Please note we have modified our rules!!

{please read our "To be Eligible for Judging" further down
as there's a slight change there too}.

 1)  The sketch is now OPTIONAL - you do not HAVE to use it
{but of course you are welcome to use it as a starting point
& for your inspiration if you like!}, this makes it easy for you to
combine our challenges with sketch challenges if you want :)

2)  We now accept art journaling pages BUT only double-spreads with a
minimum single page size of 14 x 19cm (5.5 x 7.5 inches) per page.

3)  Our challenges will now run until midnight EST on the last day of the month
{this means you have an entire month to complete the challenge - woohoo!}.

-----------------------------------------

Our HUGE NEWS is that we have a
Facebook Subscriber Giveaway
launching TOMORROW {Monday 2nd September 2013} so make sure to
LIKE us on Facebook & come back TOMORROW
to see what you can win!

------------------------------------------

Our HUGER NEWS is that we have a MYSTERY GUEST
creating with this month's mood board on TUESDAY NIGHT!
LIVE ON USTREAM!!
{that's your HINT - anyone guess WHO IT COULD BE?!}
Come back on Tuesday to find out & get the link!!

------------------------------------------

For September we have a BOLD and GRAPHIC mood board
from Design Team member Gayle Price {Australia}.

Feel free to interpret the mood board in any way you like,
using one image, several of them, all of them or even just
one aspect of an image, using ANY COLOURS!

For example:- You could use contrasting colours or contrasting elements
(rough/smooth - straight/curved - light/dark) text, alphas, bold patterns,
doodles, scribbles, flourishes, rub-ons,detailed embellishments
 (ie:-lace,chipboard, metal/resin embellishments) masks & sunrays.

Even the topic you chose to scrap could be inspired by the board
{reading the board from the top left to the bottom right}
such as things you feel strongly about (image 1)
unconventional beauty (image 2)
about your thoughts/feelings (image 3)
loved ones/a dependency (image 4)
your wild side/things not everyone knows about you (image 5).

PLEASE REMEMBER TO TELL US WHAT INSPIRED YOU UNLESS IT IS OBVIOUS

To be eligible for judging:-

You are required to show the image of the MOOD BOARD ONLY
{you may show the sketch image but ONLY IF YOU USE IT}
PLUS mention in your post that you are playing along at Scrap Around The World
with a link back to the current challenge.

Link  to YOUR BLOG POST NOT your entire blog & turn off your word-verification if
you would like some of our Design Team members to comment on your entry.

Please check our RULES OF PLAY HERE before you begin your entry - thanks!

Here's my layout created for the reveal.

I liked the idea of a monotone layout but with more shades rather
than JUST black & white {although any colours are permissible}.

The designers still get to work with the sketch even though it is now OPTIONAL FOR PLAYERS.  I didn't want lots of busyness at the top & bottom of the layout too so I used my gesso lid to create the big semi-circles you see at the top & bottom & layered with stamps rather than papers, for a lighter look.

I layered under my photo with stamps, mesh tape, gold metallic threads & staples, chipboard & torn papers from 7 Dots Studio, as well as corrugated board inked with brown & dabbed with a gold paint dabber.

I layered up my mesh tape & wrinkled up masking tape first then gessoed over the top of them.  That metal is a new one from Prima's Vintage Vanity Collection by Finnabair.

I used background stamps from Prima
& the large butterfly stamp from Inkido.

I also layered up some of the negative section from
the Ranger 'Pop Dots' (the sticker paper part).

I added some pencil scribbles {for the first time ever}, as well as mists from Lindy's Stamp Gang, rhinestone flourishes from Flourish with a Bling & chipboard from Scrapmatts.

The winner of this challenge will be invited back to be our October Guest Designer,
as well as winning this huge prize pack of 20 PIECES of chipboard from our sponsor
